At the Docks in Mexico:
Here is an update
on our “Little Runaway”. I finally got news from him. We miss Mac and Rocky so much. It was such a relief to finally
get a letter from our little Mac. He had wanted to update you guys in his journal, but said that it was hard to find an internet
café where he is in rural Mexico. I can’t
believe that this little boy has left us on such a long journey & is now sitting around at a small Mexican seaside village
waiting for the Queen’s Royal ship to stock up on supplies before continuing on to……. My brave little son
sent us his love and promised he would be home after his amazing adventure. But first he says he’ll complete his voyage
so that he can have amazing stories to tell his grand kids one day. He thinks
like an adult sometimes! We do worry about our little adventurer, but after getting his mail in the post I feel much better
that I know he is capable of seeing the world on his own…just so long as his loyal doggy Rocky is by his side. He wrote
to me that some nice Zapatistas with wide brimmed hats and bandoliers full of ammunition were down at the docks where he was
hanging out and a group of them liked Mac and his loyal dog Rocky so much that they named him an honorary “Hefe”.
That’s a Captain in the Ejercito Libertador del Sur. Wow, I sure hope they don’t get involved in any insurrections
down there in Mexico!! Now, they wait at the docks, eating carnitas, and singing songs about Santa Dona Sebastiana before their
departure back out to sea. McKinley says it will be a very long time before he can communicate with us again. His journey
out to sea will be a long one. Getting to his next destination may take several months….
To be continued.
